Great Saturday Walks

This Saturday, 4/19, Bon Tempe/Lake Lagunitas loop. The best lakes for a hiking excursion are Bon Tempe and Lagunitas. By linking together a couple of trails, you can walk all the way around both lakes’ perimeters in a couple of hours. Plenty of shade, moderate elevation changes, and dog friendly. The only down side is an $8 entry fee so carpool please!

Next Saturday, 4/26, Deer Park Trailhead
. Deer Park trailhead is a premier Mount Tamalpais staging area for easy loops through varied terrain. Beginning in a canyon just south of Fairfax, Deer Park offers access to nearly a dozen short grassy and forested trails, providing hikers with lots of choices. The featured hike below is a 3 mile loop but we will add another three miles and stay on Yolanda Trail to pay a visit to Phoenix Lake for lunch. Pack water and something to eat. And bring the dog!

Getting there
:  From US 101 in Marin County, exit San Anselmo/Sir Francis Drake. Drive about 5 miles west on Sir Francis Drake to the town of Fairfax. Turn left on Pastori, make the first right onto Broadway, and then turn left onto Bolinas. Drive about 0.5 mile, then turn left onto Porteous Avenue. The road almost immediately splits; bear right to remain on Porteous. Drive about 0.5 mile to the trailhead at the end of the road.  If you are interested in carpooling with someone send me a text and I will coordinate for you.  Please do not email as I am not in the office frequently enough to ensure getting back to you in a timely fashion.  Tom 415-717-8290

As you know, our goal for these hikes is to provide a friendly occasion to make new friends and to get out and enjoy the great outdoors.  We are the men and women who make up the Marin AIDS Project community of support for people living with HIV/AIDS. If you haven’t joined us yet maybe this is the one.   Here is an opportunity to get out and connect with like minded people who are seeking a breath of fresh air.

Hope many of you will join us this week and/or next.  If you don’t carpool meet at the trailhead at 10am Saturday!!
